LAME #1
I can no longer use Pandora, the excellent net radio station / music database that recommends songs based on your feedback. I got an email (I almost typed letter) from Pandora saying that due to "international licensing constraints" (read: CRTC strikes again), they must proactively block access to Canadian IP's. I'll switch to Last.fm and their Scrobblers for now (social music is the future), until the CRTC decides to block that. Imagine a world where Canadians can only listen to Canadian radio stations, the horror!

LAME #2
My wonderful work rewarded a group of us to a one night boondoggle at the Hogwarts-like Fairmont Banff Springs and a goodie bag. The bag had a 1GB iPod Shuffle (the built-in clip is surprisingly convenient), and a $15 iTunes Music Card. The problem? US cards don't work with Canadian accounts. I suppose the good news is that of all Apple's ITM's in the world, Canada has the cheapest songs at 99c CAD each.

LAME #3
I upgraded my iTunes and Winamp versions. Now neither allow me to drag'n drop from Windows to my Shuffle, but my Nano it does. I'm pretty good with computers so it frustrates me that I can't get it working, even after reinstalling.

COOL #1
Google Maps has a new feature that lets you customize your destination via drag & drop. You can pick an alternate route, avoid highways, and even stop off the path. By far the coolest new feature that only works in selected cities, is the street level view. Drag the little yellow man! The traffic feature is handy too, I can see that being part of every downtown worker's pre-logoff web browsing in a couple years.
Check out this Oprah clip on Working at Google (Youtube). More reasons for me to want to work there, and I will.

COOL #2
The sailboat-shaped Bahrain World Trade Center and its 3 29m wind turbines. Calgary needs inventive buildings like this, as few cities have a chance to design their own skyline. We're 19th on Skyscraperpage's list of most highrises.

Lastly, this 3rd season of Hell's Kitchen is hilarious. Rock over cute nanny & personal chef Bonnie in the final, with Jen a close 3rd.
